DIY - Do It Yourself

Step-by-step guides to build your own setup from scratch — lower cost, full control, and you will understand every part of your system.

Microgreen Rack

A microgreen rack is the simplest and cheapest setup to start with. All you need is a wire rack, LED grow bars, a timer, trays, and a growing medium. You can be up and running the same day. Building it yourself saves money versus all-in-one kits and lets you size shelves exactly for your space.

Hydroponic Tower

Building your own tower from rigid uPVC (unplasticized PVC) pipe is a solid default: it stays stiff, contains no plasticizers, and is commonly used where water sits against plastic — a better default for food-adjacent towers than flexible PVC, which stays bendy because of added plasticizers. You control port count, spacing, and height. A DIY tower uses a reservoir, a small submersible pump, and a timer to cycle water up the column and back down.

Horizontal NFT Channel

A horizontal NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) channel system is the most scalable setup of the three but also the most involved to build. Water flows in a thin film along the bottom of sloped channels, feeding roots continuously. DIY NFT systems are often built from PVC gutter pipe or square hydroponic channels — ideal if you want many plant sites and a repeatable layout.
