Harvest Calendar

Temperature-aware harvest timing for microgreens and crops: Q10 growth multiplier, phase windows from plant data, and peak crispness anchored to early morning.

What this tool does

Predicts when a tray reaches minimum and maximum harvest days adjusted for room temperature.

Shows a peak crispness date/time (morning anchor) inside the harvest window.

Visualizes phases from the plant harvest JSON when available.

How it works

  1. Growth rate multiplier = 1.25^((T − 24 °C) / 10) (Q10_BASE 1.25, TEMP_REF_C 24).
  2. Above plant air_temp_max_C: multiply by clamp(1 − 0.05 × °C over max, 0.1, 1).
  3. Below 8 °C: multiply rate by 0.4.
  4. Growth-days = elapsed real days × multiplier; real days to min harvest = total_days_min / multiplier.
  5. Peak crisp: next local 06:30 after readiness, clamped within the harvest window (PEAK_CRISP_HOUR 6, minute 30).
  6. Fallback crop window 8–12 days if plant harvest JSON missing.

Assumptions and default values

Q10 base1.25 per 10 °C (code comment: tuned so 32 °C ≈ 1.20× vs 24 °C reference)
Reference temperature24 °C
Cold stall thresholdBelow 8 °C
Peak crisp clock06:30 local

Limitations

  • Uses a single average temperature — not hour-by-hour greenhouse swings.
  • Phase day ranges depend on plant harvest JSON quality.
  • Peak crisp time is a model anchor, not a guarantee of shelf life after cut.

FAQ

How does temperature change harvest time?

Warmer rooms shorten real days to the same growth-day target via the Q10 multiplier; heat above the plant max adds a penalty factor.

What is Q10 here?

In this tool Q10_BASE is 1.25 — the multiplier applied for each 10 °C change from the 24 °C reference.

Why 6:30 in the morning?

Microgreens are modeled as most turgid after overnight rehydration; peak crisp targets the next 06:30 after the tray hits readiness.

What if I don't know exact temperature?

Use average daytime room temperature or a planned setpoint — the slider accepts manual input.

Does this replace visual inspection?

Always combine the countdown with tray inspection (true leaves, height, crop-specific indicators in plant data).
